On September 25, 2022, the inaugural meeting and the first general meeting of the Hainan Provincial Agarwood Industry Federation was held in the conference room of the Institute of Tropical Biotechnology, China Academy of Tropical Agriculture, Haikou City. Liu Zuokai, deputy director of the Department of Science and Technology of Hainan Province, Gao Shuchao, deputy director of the Forestry Bureau of Hainan Province, Wang Shoudong, President of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies Agarwood Branch, Cui Zhiqiang, Chairman of the Joint Committee of China Association for the Promotion of Forestry and Environment Agarwood Industry, and scientific experts from the agarwood industry in Hainan Province,The meeting was attended by more than seventy representatives of association leaders and member companies. 

    The meeting was chaired by Dai Haofu, director of the Haikou Comprehensive Experimental Station of the National Technical System of Chinese Materia Medica Industry and deputy director of the Institute of Tropical Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agriculture.

     The Hainan Provincial Agarwood Industry Federation is a positive response to the Hainan Provincial Committee Political Research Office published in Hainan Today, "A piece of ten thousand dollars! How to develop and grow theagarwood industry in Hainan" research report initiative, According to the instructions of the provincial government in charge, Co-sponsored by the Institute of Tropical Biotechnology of the Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences and Hainan Daguan  Agarwood Industry Development Co., Jointly with Hainan Xiangdu Agarwood Industry Holding Group Co., Hainan Xiangguan Agarwood Industry Co., Ltd, Hainan Nagufang Agarwood Technology Co., Hainan Xie Hanhui Agarwood Nursery Technology Co. and Hainan Nada Agricultural Development Co., It took more than a year of careful preparation before it was officially established.

     At the meeting, Liu Zuokai, deputy director of the Department of Science and Technology of Hainan Province, Gao Shuchao, deputy director of the Forestry Bureau of Hainan Province, and Wang Shoudong, President of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Agarwood Branch, and Cui Zhiqiang, President of the Joint Committee on Agarwood Industry of the China Association for the Promotion of Forestry and Environment, delivered important speeches and addresses to the conference respectively. He expressed his hopes and requirements for the newly established Hainan Agarwood Industry Federation. 

     Li Yun, the general liaison of the preparatory group of Hainan Agarwood Industry Federation, made a report on the preparatory work to the General Assembly.The members of the meeting voted by a show of hands to adopt the "Constitution of the Federation of Hainan Incense Industry (draft)", "the Federation of Hainan Incense Industry membership fee standards and management methods (draft)" and other relevant documents of the Federation.

     The General Assembly elected the members of the first council, the members of the supervisory board and the first president, vice-president, secretary-general and supervisor of the Hainan Agarwood Industry Federation. Comrades Zeng Jun and Li Dunxi were formally elected as council members; comrades Zhou Jianhui and Yang Jinling were formally elected as supervisors of the supervisory board; Li Xi was elected president. Comrades Zeng Jun, Li Dunxi and Liu Yang Yang were elected vice presidents; Li Yun was elected secretary-general; Zhou Jianhui was elected chairman of the supervisors.

     The conference also announced the names of the 15 appointed members of the expert advisory board. All of them are the most influential representatives in various fields of agarwood, with outstanding achievements and reputation. Such as Wang Shoudong, President of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, Agarwood Branch, Sun Shan, President of the Beijing Agarwood Association, Yang Ziwen, Deputy Director of Cultural Resources Research Center, Peking University; Zhang Xiaowu, a famous Chinese agarwood collector; Zhou Rong, President of Zhong Nanshan Institute of Pharmaceutical Innovation; Dai Haofu, Deputy Director of Institute of Tropical Biotechnology, Chinese Academy of Tropical Agricultural Sciences, and others. Their addition to the development of Hainan agarwood industry has played a role in escorting the development of Hainan.

     President-elect Li Xi made a final speech. He pointed out that the purpose of establishing the Hainan Agarwood Industry Federation is to unite the power of society, Under the management of the relevant government departments, to promote the upstream and downstream resources of Hainan's agarwood industry to complement each other and enhance the competitive advantage of Hainan's agarwood industry, contribute to the "fourth tree" of Hainan's rural revitalization and green development. He said that as the first president of the Hainan Agarwood Industry Federation, he will conscientiously perform his duties, unite the members, and try to solve the problems for the member enterprises, Diligently and diligently lead all members to do all the work of the federation, and strive to build a bridge between members and the government and society to promote the high quality and rapid development of Hainan and even China's agarwood industry.
